PSALM 119:1-16

How happy are those whose way is blameless,
who walk according to the Lord’s instruction!
Happy are those who keep his decrees
and seek him with all their heart.
They do nothing wrong;
they walk in his ways.
You have commanded that your precepts
be diligently kept.
If only my ways were committed
to keeping your statutes!
Then I would not be ashamed
when I think about all your commands.
I will praise you with an upright heart
when I learn your righteous judgments.
I will keep your statutes;
never abandon me.

How can a young man keep his way pure?
By keeping your word.
10 I have sought you with all my heart;
don’t let me wander from your commands.
11 I have treasured your word in my heart
so that I may not sin against you.
12 Lord, may you be blessed;
teach me your statutes.
13 With my lips I proclaim
all the judgments from your mouth.
14 I rejoice in the way revealed by your decrees
as much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on your precepts
and think about your ways.
16 I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word.

HEAR:

  • As you read through this passage, ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate God’s Word and to bring to your attention what God’s heart wants for you today.

  • If there are things that you are seeking to find joy in apart from God’s commandments (The way of the Kingdom), confess and plead like David that God would help you to seek Him with your whole heart.

  • How can we develop the type of hearts that DELIGHT and find JOY at the mere thought of God’s commandments and statutes?

RESPOND:

  • Praise God and rejoice in his commandments, in his Law of Love!

  • Contend with God that He would pour out his Grace and Holy Spirit to transform your heart and to mold it into one that is like His.

  • Lift up the believers in Boston, that through the Grace of God; we would become a people who rejoice in following the way of God’s Kingdom, and in so doing, “…shine like lights in the world…” (Philippians 2:14-16)
